"How much longing can a single pen hold?" This artwork was born from that very question. The artist used an ordinary blue pen to write a poetic essay across paper and a sheet of thermoplastic. The writing began at the very top-left corner and flowed continuously all the way down to the bottom-right for exactly 4 hours and 54 minutes—without caring when the ink would finally run out.

 

        Writing this piece continuously in one sitting required immense physical and emotional endurance from the artist. The writing expresses a deep longing for a beloved friend who has disappeared. Because of this, the entire process became a deeply focused state, balancing the delicate contradiction between overwhelming emotion and quiet concentration. It beautifully weaves memories of the past together with the present moment, creating a result that continues to echo into the future. Ultimately, "I miss(ing) us 4 hours & 54 minutes long" is an artwork about the space and time of longing.

 

             The traces left behind on the paper and thermoplastic include the visible blue ink, the fading scratches from when the pen ran dry, and the deep marks pressed firmly into the plastic surface. All of these physical marks shift and change as time passes and natural light casts shadows across the artwork. Because of this, the traces exist differently and are perceived differently depending on the changing light. This beautifully reflects the true nature of missing someone: the feeling is always there, permanently imprinted within us, but it only reveals itself clearly under certain conditions of space and time.
